Grove City was platted in 1852 as a nineteen-lot village on fifteen and a quarter acres east of the Columbus–Harrisburg Turnpike. That turnpike is Broadway. The commercial spine of the town has been in the same place for over 170 years.
What is different now is the money that has gone into it. The Columbus Street extension opened in 2021, connecting Town Center directly to the Beulah Park development. The Park Street extension followed in May 2022. The broader Beulah program represented roughly $30 million in public infrastructure, and the city issued $9 million in bonds in 2023 for the park itself: playgrounds, pickleball courts, shelters and a four-season pavilion.
There is also a commercial revitalization grant program that reimburses independent businesses and property owners for facade and building work, generally capped at $10,000 a year in the Town Center core and $5,000 along the Broadway corridor.
What's approved but not built yet
In May 2026 the city authorized an agreement for Broadway Live: a proposed 16,400-square-foot food hall and bar, an outdoor plaza and stage, up to 150 apartments, a 125-space public parking lot and a half-acre of green space. City participation is capped at $6.5 million and tied to delivered public improvements. The final plan and FEMA flood-map approval were still outstanding as of this writing, so treat it as planned, not done. Anyone telling you it is finished is selling you something.
